BLISTERS ON MY FEET AND ACTION MOVIE ABOUT CHEATING HUSBANDS

The next day I met up with a few people that I had met in the cue in the bank the day before. (Friends are easy to find in this city) One of them was from Italy but was here to visit family and relatives. His cousin who thought that the tourists (me and the Burkinabé Italian) should see the city, decided we should walk to Ouaga 2000 – the developing residential area “where all the rich people live”. Little did I know it also meant walking along a highway for an hour in burning sun in the middle of the day. (I have just arrived from freezing degrees and snow chaos and I forgot to bring the sunscreen) But still on a high since my arrival - it was like the most interesting walk along a highway ever! (I actually took a bunch of pictures of the highway itself – but they turned out not to be that interesting after all). I got to see the Ouaga 2000 monument, which was kind of impressive. It reminded me of something out of the Jetson cartoon that I loved to watch when I was little. It looked a bit like a space ship inspired by the Eiffel Tower, made of cement. Ouaga 2000 itself was a stretched out area with lots of empty plots and half built houses with iron pipes sticking out everywhere, mixed with luxury villas with guarded gates decorated with golden ornaments. Along the highway were lines of posh high rising hotels and other impressive buildings with signs like Institute of…. After chilling out in a pitch black bar (before my eyes got used to the darkness after the bright sunshine outside) with a coke we headed to the cinema. (I gotta work and do some research for my thesis too! Lol) The film was called DOCTEUR FOLIE (Doctor Craziness) and was a about a mysterious guy who only appeared from behind or in sun glasses – spying on cheating husbands on the account of suspicious wives. It was hilarious. It was definitely the first time I see a comedy including both car racing, men seducing women in high pitched voices and than begging their wives to take them back. Moral: Don’t cheat on your wife! Because Docteur Folie said so! That’s right. Haha. I think western film has a lot to learn about edutainment (education entertainment) film in this country!
